ProWein to Celebrate 25th Anniversary in 2019

ProWein to Celebrate 25th Anniversary in 2019ProWein 2019, International Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with about 6,800 exhibitors from around the world. All major winegrowing regions will be represented, conveniently grouped by country within the 10 fully booked halls. Exhibitors will range from major bulk-wine producers to fine boutique estates. In addition, nearly 400 spirits producers will showcase their specialties. The trade fair will take place from March 17 – 19, 2019 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The exhibits will be complemented by a wide-ranging ancillary program including tasting sessions and seminars at the exhibitors’ stands, at the ProWein Forum and at the tasting zone of the international MUNDUS VINI award winners. Other highlights will include special exhibit areas such as the Champagne Lounge with 40 producers and the Organic World with leading international organic wine associations and numerous producers. This unique scope and quality, as well as its trade only policy, make ProWein the most important meeting place for the international wine and spirits sector.

“Same but different” craft show is growing

The topic of craft drinks will also be taken up again at ProWein 2019. After the successful premiere last year, the “same but different” special exhibit has been renewed, offering a dedicated space for innovations related to craft beer, craft spirits and cider. Over 100 exhibitors from about 20 countries will be present. This year’s fizzz lounge will focus on “Zero Waste: High-Percentage Recycling at the Bar.” Key to this concept is the economical use of raw materials and an optimized recycling flow. For example, all components of fruit are to be used in their entirety and intelligently processed.

ProWein: Platform for international wine and spirit trends

ProWein does not only introduce the new vintage but also serves as a wine education platform about current trends in the international wine and spirits sector. Trend scouts Stuart Pigott and Paula Redes Sidore will present an overview of the latest wine trends at moderated tastings on Sunday and Monday evening of ProWein 2019 (from 6:00 pm  – 7:00 pm at the ProWein Forum in Hall 10). Topics will include “High Altitude Wines,” the Renaissance of “Field Blends” and the varieties “Chenin Blanc & Gamay.” They will also cover the growing role of “Wine in Cans” on many international sales markets. ProWein’s online magazine at www.prowein.com will feature these topics in advance of the trade fair, including exhibitor information. The online magazine will also highlight the latest spirits trends and point out the corresponding exhibitors. Among the themes will be  “Home & Hygge,” “The New Aperitif Culture,” “No Waste” and “Craft Beer.”

Started in 1994 – 25 Years of ProWein

Various smaller campaigns are planned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ProWein such as the “Coming home for ProWein” campaign with a limited special edition of the traditional Düsseldorf liqueur “Killepitsch” and a wide range of merchandise items. In addition, exhibitors and visitors at ProWein 2019 will be surprised with small goodies. ProWein will also provide an overview of developments over the past 25 years with interesting stories and anecdotes – on the ProWein homepage www.prowein.com. Because the French wine industry was particularly committed to the establishment of ProWein 25 years ago, France will play a special role at ProWein 2019. Together with Business France, ProWein is publishing a booklet presenting all the French wine-growing regions. This publication will be distributed to all buyers from the top wine import nations in advance of ProWein and will also be posted online on the ProWein homepage.
