Walk-On’s Opens at Towne Center

VIP charity event, free meals for first responders, preceded Grand Opening

Walk-On’s Opens at Towne CenterWalk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, voted “Best Sports Bar in North America” by ESPN in 2012, opened its newest location in Baton Rouge’s Towne Center Monday.

The 8,500-square-foot restaurant located at 7425 Corporate Blvd. boasts more than 80 high-definition flat-screen TVs, over 60 beers on tap, custom pour-your-own table taps, a VIP room and banquet facilities, and a festive beer garden on the outdoor patio. It is the only sports bar in the area.

“I’m always excited when we open a new restaurant, but our newest Walk-On’s is truly special,” said Brandon Landry, co-owner and founder of Walk-On’s Enterprises, which operates the sports bar and its sister concepts. “The space is bigger, the kitchen is huge, it has a great dining and bar layout and we’re in an ideal location to serve the families, businesses and hotel guests in the area. We think Towne Center is the perfect setting for Walk-On’s.”

Walk-On’s Opens at Towne CenterPrior to the official opening, Landry hosted a private VIP night on Friday, March 28. Local dignitaries including Mayor Kip Holden, LSU coach Les Miles, Raising Cane’s founder Todd Graves, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, Colonel Mike Edmondson and others, joined in the celebration. Walk-On’s pledged to donate 100 percent of the evening’s bar sales to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge. More than $5,000 was raised.

On Saturday, Walk-On’s invited local first responders to enjoy a complimentary lunch in the restaurant or to go.

“Over the past decade, the Baton Rouge community has been very good to all of us at Walk-On’s, so it’s important to us to give back as often as we can,” said Landry. “Our grand opening at Towne Center gave us a special chance to have some fun while helping out the Cancer Center and tipping our hats to the men and women in uniform.”

Throughout opening day on Monday, Walk-On’s gave away prizes and other goodies, and local radio stations broadcasted live from the restaurant.

The Towne Center location joins the original Walk-On’s on Burbank Drive across from LSU, and sister locations in Lafayette and New Orleans. Walk-On’s Enterprises also includes Happy’s Irish Pub® — where “Happy’s girls make happy boys” – and Walk-On’s Catering, a third concept driven by the popularity of its namesake’s unique Louisiana menu.
