Guac is sure to spice up the neighborhood with Executive Chef Zual Martinez, featuring 11 unique varieties of its namesake menu item, guacamole. In addition to its wide-ranging guacamole portfolio, the menu features more traditional Mexican dishes, 10 different types of tequila, and a mix of specialty cocktails taking New Yorkers from summer to fall with the ease of every sip. Guac is open for dinner and late night dining seven days a week serving dinner from 4:00PM – 12:00PM with the bar open until 1:00AM Monday thru Sunday.
Guac encompasses two floors with seating in the front, ground-level, dining room as well as the downstairs semi-private dining room, totaling 68 seats. Upon entering, guests are treated to the vibe of an authentic Mexican patio with hanging string lights, flowerpots, and candles dispersed throughout the restaurant illuminating the darkly lit space. Other décor includes candy skulls, colorful Mexican paintings, and pops of bright color emanating from the pillows placed within the booths. The eight-seat bar takes over the center of the restaurant serving 10 types of tequila along with traditional, spicy and flavored Margaritas, both frozen and over ice. Sip on other Mexican favorites like Frozen Rum Daiquiris, Guacoplitans, or a specialty drinks like The Avenue B (Casamigos Reposado Tequila, Fresh Lime and Pineapple Juice).
Guac Tacos + Tequila’s name says it all as Executive Chef Zual Martinez, previously from Rancho Tequilaeria in Hell’s Kitchen, creates authentic Mexican cuisine coupled with 11 unique selections of guacamole. Diners can choose from an assortment of flavorful options such as the Exotic Mango, Smoke Chiptole, or Fried Golden Bacon, or try traditional options like the Tradicional Guac orQueso Fresco. Other authentic Mexican starters include Elote Asado (grilled corn on the cob, Mexican mayo, cotija cheese, and chile piquin), Guac Nachos, or Chicken, Steak or Shrimp Tacos. For a main course, patrons can indulge in a House Avocado Salad, Guac Sizzle Fajita, Carne Asada Tamiquena or savory Carnitas Fritas Yucatecas before ending the meal with something sweet like Churros(cajeta, caramel and chocolate sauce) or Tres Leches (strawberry sauce and fresh berry mix).
“I have been able to watch the neighborhood evolve since opening my first restaurant across the street 10 years ago,” says Guac owner Vincent Sgarlato. “With Guac, my family played a huge role in helping me develop the concept as we wanted to give patrons a new reason to fall in love with the East Village. We thought a restaurant dedicated to a staple menu item such as guacamole would be a great start,” he adds.
