Nightclub & Bar Announces the 2012 Top 100

The annual list — the industry’s only roster of top nightclub, bar and lounge venues based on revenue — reflects record-breaking revenue and significant growth

Nightclub & Bar released its 2012 Top 100  today, identifying the nightclub, bar and lounge venues leading the industry in total revenue. Developed in partnership with Chicago-based hospitality market research firm Technomic Inc., the 2012 Nightclub & Bar Top 100 is the only revenue-based ranking of nightlife venues.

The bar was raised yet again with Las Vegas’ Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub reporting revenue in excess of $70 million for 2011, thus pushing the upper echelon of the Top 100 higher than the previous year. Major markets including Las Vegas, Southern California, New York City and Chicago make up the bulk of the areas represented, but markets ranging from Lake Cuomo, N.J., to Kansas City, Mo., to Scottsdale, Ariz., also appear on the 2012 Top 100. Altogether, the 100 venues on the Nightclub & Bar 2012 Top 100 list generated revenue totaling $1.4 billion.

The list Click Here is generated via primary research and analysis of secondary sources. The primary research included a survey conducted from Oct. 13 until Dec. 1, 2011, which generated more than 800 responses. The 2012 Top 100 list is available Click Here

In addition to revenue information, the Top 100 survey also yields additional segmentation and performance benchmark information. The survey revealed that 70% of venue operators experienced revenue growth in 2011, with nearly half reporting increases exceeding 10%. This demonstrates that top-performing venues are outpacing the industry.

“The venue operators on our Top 100 list are clearly doing it right,” said Jon Taffer, president of the Nightclub & Bar Media Group. “It is very gratifying to recognize these top-performing venues. They are the industry leaders. The ones to watch.”

“Overall, the top clubs continue to generate growth well in excess of the overall bar and nightclub segment, which grew 1% in 2011,” said David Henkes, Vice President & On-premise Practice Leader at Technomic. “Although the economy and the industry did show signs of recovery last year, these clubs obviously excelled at concept innovation and operational execution, as well as promotion, which enabled them to experience such exceptional growth.”

Select operators from the 2012 list will discuss the path to success at the Top 100 Super Session panel taking place during the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show Click Here to be held March 12-14, 2012, in Las Vegas. Additionally, those venues earning a place on the 2012 Top 100 will be honored at a lavish event at Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub on Tuesday, March 13.
