SABA ROCK APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE

Saba Rock, the iconic island resort destination in the British Virgin Islands that reopended last month following a complete rebuild due to damages sustained by Hurricane Irma, has signed on Ciro Gentile as the director of food and beverage. In this position, Gentile will be responsible for overseeing the island-destination’s restaurant, waterfront bar and sunset lounge menus, purchasing, service and guest satisfaction.

“Saba Rock’s culinary experience is one of our main attractions,” said General Manager, Alain Prion. “We’re thrilled to have Ciro lead our team and provide an elevated experience to compliment the new Saba Rock.”

Most recently, Gentile worked as the food and beverage operations manager at the Boulevard Hotel in England, but his career has spanned across the U.S., U.K., United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and the Caribbean. He has worked with large companies like Royal Caribbean Cruises, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, Radisson Blu, Sandals Resort; and has held several positions ranging from restaurant manager, food and beverage manager and director of food and beverage, over the years.

Saba Rock’s ocean-side main restaurant offers guests elevated international dining options ranging fresh caught seafood to twists on local dishes and savory specialties. With a picturesque setting, the resort’s restaurant has already become a popular Sunday Brunch location. For a more relaxed atmosphere, the resort’s sunset lounge and bar is the place to have a craft cocktail with friends and enjoy the panoramic views of the British Virgin Islands’ North Sound.

“I am happy to join the executive team at Saba Rock and help charter the resort’s path to becoming the next big culinary spot in the British Virgin Islands,” said Gentile. “Working in such a picturesque destination and with a dedicated team has its perks, but serving our guests and hearing how much they enjoyed their meal with us could not get better.”

Gentile holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of West London, a master’s degree in Hospitality Management Business from the Hospitality & Management School of Naples, Italy; and is a level three professional sommelier. A native of Italy, he speaks fluent Italian, Spanish, Portguese and English.
