The California Water Crisis

Olfus_largeWith the California water crisis making headlines, many people are taking a closer look at the bottled water they are purchasing, and rightfully so. A large number of bottled water companies source their water from this drought-stricken state. At Icelandic Glacial, we are proud to source our water from a majestic, sustainable spring in Iceland – the Ölfus Spring.

The Ölfus Spring is one of the world’s largest sources of fresh water, in fact it yields so much water that the overflow alone is around twice the volume of bottled water consumed worldwide. The spring is constantly replenished by rainfall and snowmelt and filtered through lava rock. We take less than 0.1% of the total water annually. As a result, Zenith International, Europe’s leading food and drinks consultancy, has declared the Ölfus Spring to be certifiably sustainable.
